Chicago Youth Mutual Aid: The Chicago Youth Mutual Aid, best known as CYMA, is an effort born from the collaboration of five Black and Brown grassroots led organizations in Chicago serving youth and their families: Assata’s Daughters, Chicago Freedom School, Circles & Ciphers, Street Youth Rise Up and Youth Empowerment Performance Project.  Even though this effort was created as a response to COVID-19, these organizations are invested in continuing this project in the long-term. Heater Bloc Chicago: A mutual aid collective building and distributing tent-safe heaters for houseless neighbors. [IG]


La Casa Norte: La Casa Norte’s mission is to serve youth and families confronting homelessness. They provide access to stable housing and deliver comprehensive services that act as a catalyst to transform lives and communities. [Website] [IG]


Loving Our Vecinos Everywhere (LOVE): Providing assistance, resources, & LOVE in underserved communities. [IG]


Lyte Collective: The Lyte Collective opened a community center in 2023 to provide a safe space to youth experiencing homelessness. It provides them with meals, laundry facilities, safe item storage and more. [Website]


Orange Tent Project: The Orange Tent Project provides neighbors experiencing homelessness with high-quality insulated tents, hot meals, human connection and access to resources while advocating for a world where this outreach is no longer necessary. The Project has built more than 200 insulated shelters, distributed over 10,500 hot meals, and transitioned seven neighbors into housing. [Website] [IG]


Peace in Pilsen: A community-led violence prevention initiative, whose efforts include feeding people facing homelessness, facilitating peace circles, conducting wellness checks on community members, and much more. [IG]


Sarah’s Circle: Sarah’s Circle provides a full continuum of services for women, including housing, life necessities, and supportive services to help them permanently end their homelessness. [Website] [IG]


Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP): YEPP strives to create a brave environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI+) youth experiencing homelessness to explore their history, investigate new ways to address their struggles and to celebrate their strengths through personal, leadership and community development programming that incorporate different art-expression forms.
