Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN): The Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) is a community organization that fosters health, wellness and healing in the inner-city by organizing for social change, cultivating the arts, and operating a holistic health center. IMAN incorporated as a nonprofit in 1997 through the drive of people directly affected by and deeply invested in social issues affecting communities of color living on Chicago’s South Side. The organization models an integrative approach that employs holistic interventions to address a spectrum of structural and systemic injustices, incorporating primary and behavioral health; artistic expression; leadership development; organizing and advocacy; housing; and job training. Rebuild Foundation: Founded by artist Theaster Gates in 2010, Rebuild Foundation is a platform for art, cultural development, and neighborhood transformation. Rebuild strengthens creative communities through grants, classes, residencies, access to our collections and free public programs. The Foundation is well known for innovative, ambitious, and impactful arts and cultural initiatives, hosting projects and programs that amplify the history, value, and promise of Black creativity at local, national, and international scales. Rebuild operates a constellation of sites on the South Side of Chicago including the Stony Island Arts Bank, Dorchester Art + Housing Collaborative, Kenwood Gardens, and the forthcoming arts incubator at the former St. Laurence Elementary School. Social Change: Established in 2011, Social Change is a non-profit organization committed to empowering communities through direct action, policy changes, and the sharing of real stories via the annual film festival Changefest. Active in several states, including IL, CA, GA, IN, MO, NC, NY, and WI, they have positively impacted over 100,000 families nationwide, distributing nearly a million pounds of food through 100 events. With at least five legal pop-ups yearly, they have provided crucial aid and contributed to the passage of over 30 laws, showcasing our dedication to creating lasting social change. [Website] [IG]
